A Little Walk
On the 12th of November we decided to take dogboy for a little walk along the south (Virginia)shore of the Potomac River. Since he's not American we thought it best to show him a bit about his parent's history. We decided to go to Theodore Roosevelt Island It's a pretty nice walk in the autumn with the crisp leaves on the paths.
We spent much of the time on our phones talking to family (thanks to the free weekend calls) but the boy did get to meet some other dogs and chase a couple of squirrels. Here's the view south and north (toward Georgetown) along the Potomac. Here's a shot of TR's plaza . From what I know of him I reckon this memorial is just about perfect for him. It has pillars with quotes of his about the importance of health and integrity. It also has the statue of him ranting as he was wont to do. Yep, it's a pretty appropriate legacy.
On the way home Lori spotted an interesting shot that you don't see every day; the Washington Monument behind the Lincoln Memorial.
