Should Aulde Years Be Forgot
In a word, yes. Actually, 2005 wasn't so bad if you're the type of person that enjoys slow, continual pain punctuated by short, sharp bouts of agony. At least we can say that we survived and are set up nicely to make 2006 a much better year.
I have to keep focussing on the bright spots in this year:
1. We adopted our Dog Boy
2. Our good friends in Dubai had a long awaited second child, Chloe (Congrats!)
3. We got to catch up with friends and family we haven't seen in many a moon
4. We're still together (great for me but everyone knows she could do much better!!!)
5. Lori sold our house in Australia - without too much fuss and is even considering sharing the proceeds with me....right dear?
6. We figure we couldn't possibly get any more debilitating, drawn out colds without sprouting feathers or something.
7. AND the big winner, 2005 is finally over and can't happen again (yay!)
So, what did we do to celebrate this milestone? We had a nice, quiet night in. Lori made a delicious dinner of smoked turkey, home made bread with hummus, pate and cheese.
We did some tasting of wine (pinot noirs from around the world) and some TP - note the resident "shark" circling for scraps. Then we went upstairs to the viewing area at the top of our apartment building for the countdown and to see if any fireworks were happening. There were some fireworks but not much. Kind of surprising for our nation's capital.
One good thing about Dubai, they like to put on firework displays.
